SP3D’s News | 21 November 2021
SINGAPORE, September 13, 2018 – Spare Parts 3D announced today its new collaboration with DNV GL, the global quality assurance and risk management company.
DNV GL has recently launched a new JIP on Additive Manufacturing, aiming at addressing how to safely and effectively introduce and implement AM in the Oil and Gas, Maritime and related industries.
The objective of the JIP is to bring together partners covering the whole value chain (from feedstock and gas suppliers, equipment manufacturers, software providers, AM product manufacturers, EPC companies, and end users) in order to develop standardized requirements necessary to introduce components made by AM.
SpareParts3D is pleased to be a close collaborator in this JIP wherein it brings its expertise in parts catalogue analysis, and building up a digital inventory.
Paul Guillaumot
CEO – Spare Parts 3D
“We see a fantastic opportunity in collaborating with DNV GL on this JIP to communalize and frontload the qualification & certification efforts and to build a Marine and O&G industry standard.
Qualification of AM parts is not a work that you can start when your equipment is down.
Our ambition for this collaboration is to finally deliver the promised value of Additive Manufacturing for Marine and O&G on-demand spares produced locally to cover shortages.”
Paul, CEO of SpareParts3D.
3D printing is growing faster every day, with a market growth of 17.4% in 2017 according to the Wohlers Report. The innovative technology is progressively integrating every industry and needs to be controlled to remain safe and smart in all domains. The partnership aims at tackling the certification issue related to the quick evolution of additive manufacturing.
“A lot of companies we are working with are curious about AM and indicating they are considering implementing additive manufacturing into their business in the future but sometimes lack the skills and knowledge to adopt this technology.
I am very glad that Spare Parts 3D is partnering us in our JIP as they support companies to foster the use of AM into their business at a large scale and bring a strong expertize in supply chain management.”
